What are Airbnb's cancellation policies?

Airbnb's cancellation policies range from Flexible, allowing full refunds up to 24 hours before check-in, to Strict, requiring early commitment with limited refunds, ensuring a balance between guest flexibility and host security.

Airbnb offers a variety of cancellation policies to suit different needs. Here's a summary of their main policies:

  1. Flexible: Guests can cancel up to 24 hours before check-in for a full refund. If they cancel less than 24 hours before check-in, the host is paid for the first night.

  2. Moderate: Guests can cancel up to 5 days before check-in for a full refund. If they cancel later, the host is paid for the nights stayed, plus one additional night and 50% of the remaining nights.

  3. Firm: Guests must cancel at least 30 days before check-in for a full refund. If they cancel between 7 and 30 days before check-in, the host is paid 50% for all nights. Cancellations within 7 days result in full payment to the host.

  4. Strict: Guests can only get a full refund if they cancel within 48 hours of booking and at least 14 days before check-in. Cancellations closer to the check-in date result in partial or no refunds.

  5. Long-term: For stays of 28 nights or more, guests must cancel at least 30 days before check-in for a full refund. If they cancel later, the host is paid for all nights spent and an additional 30 nights.
